What it does

ForeHarvest takes forecast data, satellite records, climate signals and agronomic models, and converts them into decisions a farmer can act on: whether to plant this week, how much water to store, whether it is safe to spray today, which variety suits their soil, and when the season is likely to break.

Who uses it

Smallholder farmers managing one to five acre plots, extension officers and cooperative leaders, and institutional users including aggregators, agricultural insurers and government planners.

The technical approach

Four independent weather sources are blended using skill weights specific to each agro ecological zone and month, then corrected against three decades of historical climate records and verified against satellite rainfall observations.

The result is that two farmers in different districts, with different soils, crops and irrigation methods, receive materially different guidance, because the system models the difference rather than averaging over it.

Institutional and regulatory alignment

Forecast methodology aligned with the national meteorological agency and the regional meteorological centre. Variety catalogues aligned with national agricultural research institutes. Compliant with Ghana's Data Protection Act, Act 843.
